History: Founded in 1915 by the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Marywood is an independent, comprehensive, Catholic, coeducational institution that welcomes students from a variety of backgrounds and religions. Marywood offers a personalized education that empowers students intellectually, professionally, and spiritually, and prepares them to serve as ethical leaders and responsible global citizens.

Location: The Marywood campus is a national arboretum, set on 115 hilltop acres in a safe and charming residential neighborhood of Scranton (pop. 78,000) bordering the Pocono Mountains in northeastern Pennsylvania. Marywood is within a two-hour drive of New York City and Philadelphia.

Enrollment: More than 3,400 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students from 29 states and 19 foreign countries.

Faculty: Eighty-four percent of full-time faculty members hold the highest degree in their field.

Programs: 34 graduate degree programs, 32 Pennsylvania Department of Education certification programs, two dietetic internship programs, 10 post-master’s certificate programs, and three postmaster’s degree programs:Ph.D., Psy.D., and Ed.S.

Graduate and Post-Master's Degrees Awarded:  M.A., M.A.T., M.B.A., M.Ed., M.F.A., M.H.S.A., M.M.T., M.P.A., M.S., M.S.W., Ph.D., Ed.S., and Psy.D.

Accreditations: The number of professional accreditations across all programs positions Marywood in the top 6% of universities in the country.
